passed away at Nanaimo Hospital on July 25, 2009. Alexander is survived by his wife of 63 years Marjorie (nee: Guy), children: Beverley (David) Bennet, Patricia (John) Birtwistle and Valerie Neill (David Stevens), grandchildren: Erin, Meaghan, Sean and Kirsty, 1 great grandchild Avery and his sister Edna Mitchell (nee: Ritchie). A much decorated veteran of WWII, 1939-1945. Star: Star of France, Star of Germany, Defence Medal; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, War Medal 1939-1945; United Nations Emergency Force Medal, International Commission for Supervision and Control Service Medal, Canadian Forces decoration and clasp; United Nations Peacekeeping medal. Alexander belonged to the Canadian Military Police Association, Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the Canadian Legion. He also graduated with a B.A. degree from Carlton University.
After retiring from the military he worked for National Museums of Canada and The Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
