Gwilt, Alice Justine

(nee Zacharias)

(Passed away July 11th, 2005)

On Monday, July 11th, Alice Gwilt passed away surrounded by her loving family. Alice, predeceased by her husband Frank Gwilt, was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan and made her home in Bowser, B.C. for 50 years. Frank and Alice, along with their children, built and operated La Bella Vista Resort, a sought after vacation destination in Bowser, for 34 years. Alice loved to watch sports but she was the biggest fan of her children and grandchildren as they participated in sports, music, dance and all of

life’s adventures. Grandma’s special cheese sauce, shells and cheese, lucky charms, kitchen dancing,

homemade applesauce, a full cookie jar, lovingly knitted slippers and mutually shared laughter about her being hard of hearing are amongst the things that her family loved the most. Alice possessed

tremendous energy and was known to rarely sit down. Her sense of humour and tears of laughter brought fun and joy to all of our lives. Alice was an active member of the Bowser Legion Ladies Auxiliary for decades, an avid walker, puzzle doer, tomato growing competitor, the best potato salad and apple pie maker, meat draw winner and she loved to travel. Holding a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children; Sharon (Gwilt) & Bill Waugh, Carol (Gwilt) & Doug Cannon, Gary & Lauri Gwilt, her grandchildren; Kelsey, Casey, Meagan and Carmen, her sisters and their families; Bernice, Pauline, Ruth, Jo, Eva, Jean and sister-in-law Norma.

In lieu of flowers, Alice requested that contributions be made to the First Open

Heart Society of Victoria, 1580 Pembroke Street, Victoria, B.C., V8R 1W2, (250) 595-2123

A special tea / luncheon will be held on
