You cannot judge the value of a life by its quantity. It is by the joy that you are feeling when you think of him/her.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Allan. He was many things to many people during his lifetime - father, brother, uncle, papa and beloved husband to life-partner, Lily. He was a special friend to those fortunate enough to know him and a wonderful example to us all.

It was not the work he did or even the ‘things’ he did - it was the essence of Allan that endeared him to our hearts. His strength and positive spirit will stay with us forever. He was an avid outdoors-man with a special affinity to the earth, thus he tread softly upon her. His First Nation heritage was important to him and was reflected in his carvings, jewelry and drum-making talents.

Al and Lily started the Diamond Light Centre in 1996 in Nanaimo. Their vision was to bring together the many light workers and practitioners of alternative medicine. He was a huge part of the Centre and spent many hours in the office talking to people and organizing workshops and classes. His strength and compassion drew people to him. With his unassuming wisdom and humility he helped many. He was generous, not only with his ‘things’ but with his time and attention. His strength and convictions to do the right thing is a shining example to us all.

Allan Donald Robertson was born at Milner’s Landing on April 8, 1951 and transitioned peacefully at home on April 24, 2010 with Lily at his side.

Continuing to be dear to our hearts, All-ways and forever, a gentle giant of a man. Spread your wings Allan and soar with the eagles.

Allan requested no formal events but agreed to a gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life, which will take place at a later date.
