Anne Morton (nee MacDonald) Bengough

May 15, 2006

BENGOUGH, Anne Morton (nee MacDonald)

Passed away peacefully on May 15, 2006, at Arranglen Gardens in Qualicum Beach.

Anne was born in Vancouver in 1911, and graduated from Britannia Secondary School, where she was a champion typist. In those days, she loved Scottish country-dancing with her cousins and friends; it must have been a wonderful time in her life, as she frequently said that she always felt inside as if she were still 15 years old! She and George married in 1936; they spent many years hiking Grouse Mt. together with family and friends. She loved travelling, seeing new places, meeting new people. Anne was very active in the Laura Secord PTA, ad a variety of bowling teams. She was never far away from knitting needles or crochet hook, having learned these skills from her Grandmother, before the age of six! In the kitchen, muffins were her specialty. She and George were happily married for over 66 years, until his death four years ago. Like her many Scottish ancestors, she was quick to cope, meet every challenge, and do it right. Family and friends were always her first priority; she will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Margery (John) Galick; her daughter Barbara (Albert) Brett; grandchildren Jason (Cindy), Christine (Dave), and Ken; great grandson Rico; great-grandsons Jackob and David; many nephews and all their families; as well as many friends and neighbours. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Lorelle Anne.

The family would like to thank the staff at Arranglen Gardens for their compassionate care, and Yates Parksville Chapel for assistance with arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 10th.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
