December 26, 1930 - October 5, 2010

With great sadness we have to announce the passing of our Dear Anne at the Nanaimo Hospital the evening of October 5, at the age of 79.

She had been failing for the past month from what was eventually diagnosed as lung cancer that spread to form a brain tumour.

Anne loved all animals. She doted on her 3 dogs: Merlin, Porche, and Chanel, and her Tabby cat Jeremy. They all survive her and will remain in the care of husband Ron.

She is also survived by brother-in-law Lou Truesdale, cousins & nephews in BC and Manitoba, plus her childhood friend Pauline Maling (Chester) in Winnipeg who is also grieving. Mention must be made of Anne’s friends Ross & Myrna Lalonde and Lynn Zarbock. Not to be forgotten are the great neighbours on Anson Place (Chartwell) who have been a tremendous help and support for husband Ron. Particularly Carol Carlson who cared for our pets when Ron was with Anne at the hospital.

There are of course many more friends in the Qualicum area who are too numerous to name, but they know who they are. And a most heartfelt expression of gratitude to Dr.s Marwood and Carriage, of the NRGH, Dr.J. Ronald, and to Dr. Biglow.

Anne spent her childhood growing up on Curtis Street (off Higgins) in the historic Point Douglas area of Winnipeg, attending various schools in the “North End” and Point Douglas. She began her working career with Eaton’s on Portage Ave., working her way up to the Interior Design Studio where she excelled.

In 1966 Anne married Ron when they moved to Victoria, BC, and began working for the Better Business Bureau as Assistant to the Director for Vancouver Island, where she remained until 1971 when she began a 20 year career with the Federal Government at the Old Age Security and Canada Pension offices in Victoria and Vancouver.

Anne was always well liked for her sense of humour, honesty, and with her well known ability to “Call a spade a spade.”

Husband Ron has received numerous communications from her many former fellow workers expressing their sorrow at hearing of Anne’s passing.

On retirement in 1991 Anne & Ron moved from Richmond to Qualicum, starting off with a Townhouse at Berwick & Rupert and in 1993 purchased a home on Anson Place in Chartwell, where she endeared herself to her neighbours.

Cremation has taken place and a CELEBRATION OF LIFE will take place at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 18, at Yates Funeral Home on Allsbrook Road, Parksville.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Society, or the SPCA.
