Born November 29, 1934 in Vancouver BC. Arnie passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2009 with his two sons at his side. Diagnosed with brain cancer a short two weeks ago, he left us quickly but with great dignity.

Arnie grew up in Vancouver the youngest of 9 children.  As a young boy he fished with his dad and later became a commercial fisherman. Arnie met Lois in 1952 and they were married in 1954.  In 1956 Arnie got a job in the gas division of BC Electric and started his long career installing gas lines throughout the Lower Mainland. Following his retirement in 1990 Arnie and Lois moved to their final home together in Parksville, BC. They were true soulmates and were devoted to each other.  Arnie lost his darling Lois just 6 months ago and since then had spent much of his time watching eagles dive and swoop over the ocean from their special bench.

Besides being predeceased by Lois, both parents and 8 brothers and sisters had all passed before him.

He is survived by his two sons Craig and Cleve, daughter-in-law Barbara and grandchildren Jonah, Kyle, Madison and Danika. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the community care nurses and care aides who were so kind and respectful in all they did for Arnie in his final days.

A Remembrance Service was held at

Yates Funeral Home in Parksville on

Sunday, October 11th.
