ARTHUR FRANK (Bill) BLAKER

Bill passed away at The Gardens Care Ward in Qualicum Beach at 10:00pm on October 13th at the age of 88.

He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, but especially by his children, Terry (Eva), Jacqueline (Kassim), Maureen (James), his grandchildren, Leonard, Cheryl, Megan, Sarah (Stewart), Stephen, Kelly (David), Jennifer (Shawn) and three very special great-granddaughters Taylor Jane, Grace Mary, and Daisy Elizabeth. He will be missed by his sisters, Dolly, Olive, Vivienne and his brother Len.

Bill was a very friendly and caring person, always available and willing to help anyone.  He had relatives and friends all over the world with whom he stayed in constant touch.  He will be missed dearly. He lived a full and active life and was instrumental in the opening and maintenance of several major hotels in Canada, Australia, and Fiji.  He served in the British Army for 16 years with service in Malta, WWII in Europe, and in Palestine. He attained the rank of Company Sergeant-Major.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Ascension, 997 Wembley Road, Parksville on Monday, October 20 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Qualicum Cemetery with a reception after at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 76, Qualicum, after 1 p.m. 

For those that wish, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Foundation.
