August 7, 2006

McMILLIN, Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann McMillin, 75, a homemaker, died of a heart attack in her daughter’s home in Swan Lake, Montana on August 7, 2006.

Barbara was born in Spokane, Washington, to Peter McLean and Ethel Jackson on April 24, 1931, and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School. She attended Washington State University, where she met the love of her life, Jerry McMillin. They were married on January 12, 1952 and had celebrated their 54th Anniversary.

Barbara’s greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Gerald, sons Peter, Steve, Donald and wife Lydia, and daughter Kathleen Kolendich. She is also survived by grandchildren Katy and Jerry McMillin, and Johnny, Nicholas and Katherine Kolendich and brother, Peter Jackson. She is loved by many nieces, nephews and dearest friends, Francis Dobinson and Maggie Collins.

Barbara’s authentic love of others was one of her greatest gifts. Her infectious laugh, quick wit and sunny disposition endeared her to all. She delighted in taking care of those she loved... especially her cocker spaniel puppies. Barbara loved to garden, travel, and most of all, was an active participant in her grandchildren’s lives. Her talent to make those around her comfortable was incredible.

In her early years, Barbara enjoyed her involvement in the Daughters of the Nile. Currently, she was an active member at St. Stephen’s Church in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, Barbara dearly loved her home on the ocean in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia where she kept beautiful gardens and enjoyed each and every sunset. We know that her parents, Florence and Donald McMillin, Marlene Jackson, her loving son in law John Kolendich and Frank and Evelyn Kolendich are so pleased to have this beautiful woman joining them in heaven and we await the day where we will all be reunited again. Barbara’s presence and joyful spirit will be greatly missed by those of us who loved her so dearly.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Kennewick First Lutheran Church in Kennewick, Washington. Barbara will be inurned in Missoula, Montana at a later date.
