NELSON, Barbara Deering
1915 – 2010
The families of Barbara announce her passing on February 01, 2010 at the age of 94 years.
Predeceased by husband George R Nelson in 1977 and brother David in 1946, she is survived by daughters; Betsey Lee Drummond of IL, Sandra Blue Nelson of Pt Townsend, WA, brother James G Stewart (Florence) of Downsview, ON, sister Katherine M Anderson (Ross) of Cambridge, ON and their families, also extended family, Jim and Jacquie Boorman.
Barbara was born in Toronto, ON where she graduated from The University of Toronto as an Occupational Therapist. She served in the RCAMC hospitals in Canada and the UK during WWII. During peacetime she transferred to RCN hospitals in Naden and Stadacona.
After marriage, Barbara moved to Qualicum Beach in 1955 where she volunteered with community service groups, sat on the Board of School Trustees and not only did she volunteer for the SOS, she was also a Board Member. In addition to volunteering, Barbara enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Heartfelt thanks goes to Dr Morag Atherstone and the staff at Eagle Park Health Care Facility. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
