KIRKLAND, Barbara Mary
August 30, 1933 – September 8, 2006.
Barbara Kirkland passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after a short illness. She will be missed by her children Susan (Larry) Kirkland, Stephen (Trish) Kirkland, Theresa (Calvin) Coley, Marie (Bob) Bonney, Anne (Duane) Moore, Anthony (Sue) Kirkland, Jenny (Bill) Davey, and foster daughter Karen McCoy, as well as her many grandchildren: Krista, Allison, Ryan, Brad, Zoë, Lisa, Amanda, Kelly, Rozlan, Jake, Sarah, Jessica, Lindsay, Melanie, Cody, Kyle, and Caroline. Barbara was born in England, and moved to Vancouver in 1956, where she raised her family as a dedicated and devoted single mother. Her love was boundless and spilled over to affect the lives of hundreds of others, first as a caring foster mother to many children, and then in the juvenile corrections system as a professional who could always see the good in others. She rose to every challenge presented and stood up for what she believed in, even if it meant standing alone. In retirement she moved to Qualicum Beach, where she got great enjoyment from her family, her home and her garden. She will be forever remembered for what she gave of herself to each and every person whose life she crossed paths with.
We invite you to join us in celebrating her amazing love of life, and do as she taught us: to live, laugh, and love. A service will be held at 4pm at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on Saturday, September 16th, 2006.
