WOOLGAR, Barbara May

born on January 1st, 1936, passed away suddenly to be with the Lord on June 1st, 2003.

Barb left behind a rich heritage as a loving wife of 47 years, devoted mother and an even more devoted Nana and Great Nana. She was a friend and mentor to many and always had an encouraging word, a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. Barb was a woman who lived life to the fullest and she touched many lives wherever she went. She served as an elementary school teacher throughout different districts on Vancouver Island, changing the lives of many children and their families.


She was an active member of St. Stephens United Church in Qualicum Beach for many years and served the Lord with her whole heart. Barb was also an avid golfer, weaver and spinner, always bringing with her many gifts and talents!


She leaves behind many who will grieve her passing, her living husband, Donald Woolgar, her four children, Heather, Susan, Sharon and Peter, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Margaret and Dorothy and 2 brothers, John and Douglas, as well numerous nieces and nephews and all their family members.


A Celebration of Barb’s life was held on June 5th, 2003 at St. Stephen’s Church in Qualicum Beach at 2:00 pm.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Mission & Service Fund through the United Church of Canada or the Church Library fund at St. Stephens United Church in Qualicum Beach, BC.
