On August 23, 2005 Captain Ian Tarbet, formerly of Beachcomber, BC, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband and best friend to his wife Rachel Tarbet, father and best friend to his sons Glen (Samantha) and Jason (Danielle). Ian is

also survived by his family in Scotland: his sister Hazel Lannan, niece Susan (Bill), and nephew Keneth, his brother Jimmy (Kathy) nieces Samantha and Holly and brother Keneth (Irene) niece SooLynn and nephew John.

Ian Tarbet was born January 18, 1942 and raised in Scotland. After he married Rachel nee Bouchard they lived in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island before making Nanoose Bay their final residence. Ian was a Master Mariner for Canmar and later a Captain for BC Ferries.

He created many great friendships with his neighbors and fellow crew members.

Anyone who knew Ian would say that he had a mischievous grin that complimented his wicked sense of humor, but his perpetual kindness will be remembered by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Yates Funeral Home with a reception to follow. The Tarbet family welcomes anyone to join us.

In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
