Carl passed away peacefully at Nanaimo General Hospital after a short battle with cancer on the evening of August 24, 2009.
He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1928. Predeceased by his parents, Linna and Alton, two brothers, his son John and daughter Jane. Carl is lovingly remembered by Ruth, his wife of 55 years; children Joan (Monty), Brian (Rowena), Stephen (Patrice), Sheila (Tom) and daughter-in-law Angelica; grandchildren Pamela, Meghan, Mark, Linna, Michael, Sean, Ryan, Thompson and Nolan; nine brothers, 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was the oldest of 15 children. He spent many years as a teacher and then a forest worker in both New Brunswick and British Columbia. Carl had a passion for nature - especially young animals. In his younger years Carl enjoyed playing many sports - particularly baseball and hockey, and served as a lieutenant with the army cadets. He enjoyed his years coaching basketball and baseball, bowling, hunting, fishing and playing cards with his buddies at Legion #49.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am,
Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the
Catholic Church of the Ascension in French Creek
Reception to follow at
Royal Canadian Legion Br.49 at noon.
