Charlene (Charley) Stuart

November 23, 2009

Charley Stuart, born February 10th 1956 in Victoria, passed away suddenly on November 23rd at Nanaimo General at the age of 53.

She is survived by her husband Mark; her amazing daughter Andi Moyer; big, strong brother Neil Sanger (Mo); sweet, loving sister Leslie Nicks (Gord); sister-in-law Loretta Boyd (Jim); nephews Neil Sanger (Cobie); Karl Bridge (Angela); nieces Irene Landman (Jan); Leslie Sanger and many wonderful grand nieces and nephews. And more friends than this page has room for.

Charley was predeceased at an early age by her parents Ralph and Margaret Sanger and later her sisters Evelyn; and Lynn Sentell (Ron). Charley was also predeceased by her good friends and in-laws Marianne and Rolf Stuart.

Charley lived most of her life in Victoria and was the first child ever fostered by a single woman in BC - the incredible Barb Sharpe (Brian). Charley married Steven Moyer (Cindy) and was much loved by his parents Barbara and Whitney and the whole Moyer family.

In 1978 Charley gave birth to the light of her life, her daughter Andi.

Charley worked at various jobs in Victoria, most notably her salon Charley’s. She later married Mark and they enjoyed so much fun with a huge group of friends. In 1994 they moved to Parksville. Charley was active in charities and civic activities and was loved and accepted by this welcoming little town. She ran their barbershop, Stuarts’ for many years.

The family wishes to thank the wonderfully caring ICU staff of Nanaimo General. In the early morning on Wednesday the 23rd, cuddled in the arms of her adoring husband and her loving, brave daughter, Charley just floated away.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rocking Horse Pub in Nanoose at 2:30 pm Sunday the 13th of December. In lieu of flowers please bring an unwrapped toy to the Celebration for the Parksville Society of Organized Services (SOS) Angel Tree Program. This program was dear to Charley’s heart for many years and she wanted every child to wake up to toys under the tree on Xmas Day.
