Colonel Eric Trelawny Batchelor

BATCHELOR, Colonel Eric Trelawny “Batch”, DFC, P. Eng.

Age 85, peacefully on Friday, September 8 at Brock Fahrni Pavilion in Vancouver.

Thanks to the wonderful staff who cared for him with kindness and dignity. Born June 21, 1921 in Kamloops, Eric was the son of the late Harry and Peggy Batchelor and brother of Joyce (Churchland). He was a decorated bomber pilot with Coastal Command (RAF 442 Squadron) in WWII and continued his military career soon after completing his civil engineering studies at Washington State College.

Eric is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat. Children John, Bruce, Jill and Nora and their families will miss him dearly. After postings in Ottawa, Winnipeg and France, Eric retired from the Canadian Forces in 1976 to Qualicum Beach, where he and Pat lived an enviable life of travel, golf and fishing. He will be missed by their many friends whose recent visits and kindnesses were much appreciated.

A memorial service for Eric and Pat Batchelor will be held at St. Stephen’s United Church in Qualicum Beach on November 4, 2006 at 1:30 pm.
