Dan Siminiuk

February 13, 2010

Siminiuk, Dan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Siminiuk, at home on February 13, in the arms of his family. Dan was born in Coalhurst, Alberta on July 27, 1929, but spent many of his adult years in Ontario. After numerous holidays on Vancouver Island, Dan retired and moved to his “paradise” in 1992 settling in Parksville, later moving to Qualicum Beach.

Dan held a range of positions in various careers, however, the archery industry was his passion. He excelled in all aspects, from design through sales and competition, winning international championships over several years.

Throughout his life, Dan loved the outdoors and was devoted to hunting and fishing. He was active in the French Creek Fish Hatchery and Parksville Qualicum Fish and Game Club, especially in shotgun shooting at the Dorman Range. It also gave Dan great pleasure to spend time with his fly tying buddies. He took absolute delight in passing hours with his friends and family, entertaining all with his funny stories and jokes, always with a bottle of his homemade wine. His pig roasts were famous!

Dan will be sadly missed by his wife, Pepper and his son, Daniel of Dallas, Texas, many other family members and countless treasured friends.

We wish to thank Dr. Graham Inder and the Community Care Nurses for their tremendous support. With their assistance, Dan spent his last days at home. Dan’s Celebration of Life was held on Thursday, February 18, at 2:00pm at the Coombs Agricultural Hall.
