It is with great sadness that the family of David Francis Moore, formerly of Calgary, announce his passing on Monday May 24, 2010 in Vancouver, B.C. at the age of 86 years.

David was born in Calgary, AB to William Francis and Gertrude Moore. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sports, especially boxing, football and track. He belonged to the men’s boxing club in Calgary where he had many friends, played high school football and was a member of the high school track team. He joined the Air Force on his eighteenth birthday, and was an air gunner. He became a prisoner of war after crashing into the North Sea just off the German coast, in the summer of 1943. Throughout his life, David always tried to be respectful of other people and he will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

David is survived by his wife Eva (Dr. Czeslawa Bojanowska-Moore), his son Thomas Moore of Quesnel, BC, his step daughters Barbara Zablotney and Halina Sillas and their families. He is also survived by his brother John F. Moore of Calgary, his nieces Maureen Moore, Kathryn Moore and nephew Michael Moore and their spouses and children. David felt very close to his brother and his family.

Funeral Services were held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calg., AB T2S 2L5) on Monday May 31, 2010 at 2:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the palliative care staff at the Lion’s Gate Hospital who worked very hard to make his last days as comfortable as possible. We would also like to thank Dan and Ermaa of Royalty Homecare for their tremendous caring, kindness and helpful support.
