RYE, David Orlan
January 1, 1961 - August 12, 2005
It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of our beloved David Orlan Rye. After a courageous battle for Life, Dave passed away surrounded by family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Daria, parents Orlan and Lois Rye, sister Sharon (Glenn) Etty,
Brother Dan (Randi), nieces Jennifer, Sarah (Sean), Kristine and great nephew Ryan. Mother-in-law Joyce (Gerald), sister-in-laws Debbie, April (Ken), brother-in-law Rob (Jean), nephew Joel, nieces Courtney and Kaila.
Predeceased by his nephew Dean Rye, nephew-in-law Ken Menard and father-in-law Bob Tate. He will also be missed by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
Dave lived in Qualicum Beach his entire life. After attending high school Dave began working at the local Gulf gas station. Because of his interest in cars, he began an apprenticeship and became a mechanic in 1983. In 1990 Dave and Daria purchased the same Gulf gas station
(now Petro-Canada). His dedication and quality service to his many customers made him a successful businessman.
Dave was an avid curler and a member of the Qualicum Beach Curling Club, member of the Rotary Club, and of the Arrowsmith Golf and Country Club.
The immediate family is extremely grateful for the kindness and care given to Dave by the nurses and doctors in Palliative Care in Nanaimo.
Our Dear Dave, your hard fought journey is finally over and you can now be free from pain.
Your Spirit will always surround us.

A celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, Friday August 19, 2005 at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Foster Freed officiating.
