FORBES, Derek Stirling
January 17, 1947 - October 22, 2004
Passed away suddenly on October 22, 2004 with his friend and partner, Helen, at his side. Derek, born in Fredericton York, New Brunswick, leaves his loving friend Helen Munn and children, Ryan Forbes (Danee) and Jay Forbes of Victoria, B.C., along with his grandchildren Logan and Kayla. Predeceased by his father, Derek is survived by his mother, Elvira Forbes of Parksville, B.C.; sisters Monet Forbes of Vancouver, B.C., Connie and Tobey Davidson of Vancouver, B.C., Jan and Steve Rice of Cowichan, B.C., and Debbie and Mile Butler of Fort St. John, B.C. Derek was an avid carpenter, woodworker and accomplished musician, often found jamming with friends and only left this world after a courageous battle from a stroke in December 2003. A Memorial Service for Derek will be held for family and friends at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Derek may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon, 48-91 Front Street, Nanaimo, B.C. V9R 5H9.
