Passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2004 in Victoria General Hospital, at 55 years of age. IN LOVING MEMORY of Donna Marie Hugh, nee Loewen, born in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. Dear wife of Jim, married 25 years; cherished mother of Shannon (David); loving grandma of Matthew and Nicolas. Loved by her three sisters: Judy, Ellen and Wendy, and her brother Warren. Treasured by her many friends. She will be dearly missed by the people of the Hesquiaht First Nations village at Hot Springs Cove. Donna's calling as an educator saw her teach the children of many schools, including those in Meadow Lake, Chetwynd, Gold River, Coombs and finally Hot Springs Cove, where for the past six years she found a unique level of personal fulfillment and a warm place in the hearts of the Hesquiaht community. A Memorial Service was held in Tofino, BC on Saturday, September 25, 2004. Special thanks to her Hesquiaht "family" for their help in creating a most remarkable event in her honour: to the men who supplied the food and sang their traditional songs; to the ladies who tirelessly prepared the wonderful food and made cedar roses; and finally, to the beautiful children who danced for Donna. It was unforgettable, and so is she.
