Donna Mellor of Qualicum Beach, BC died peacefully on August 17, 2007, after bravely battling ovarian cancer for the past year. Beloved wife of David for 43 years, loving mother of Jeremy. Carolyn and John, mother-in-law of Jacquie, David and Fiona and doting grandmother ?ÄúNanna?Äù to Kyle, Jacob, Dillon and Bronwyn.
Donna was born in Saint John, NB, attended Netherwood Girls?Äô School in Rothesay, NB, and moved to Montreal where she met and married David in 1964. Donna was a stay at home mom during the children?Äôs early years, and renewed her banking career for another 10 years once the children were in school full time. Donna and family loved traveling, and for the last 12 years she thoroughly enjoyed the cottage on the Shuswap.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Society. The family want to thank the many professionals who cared for Donna at the BC Cancer Agency (Vancouver and Nanaimo), Dr. Michael Chung of Amber TCM Healing Centre in West Vancouver, and the volunteers from Hospice House, Nanaimo, with special thanks to the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
A celebration of Donna?Äôs life was held at St. Mark?Äôs Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach, on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 2:00pm.
