Mom passed away peacefully at the Sidney Care Home on October 16, 2007, two days short of her 89th birthday. Survived by loving husband of 64 years, Ralph Calvert Godson. Survived by daughters, D. Gail Hanslo, Judith Godson, Shelley Nielsen, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Edmonton, AB, moved to Vancouver in the 1930’s with her family. She is the eldest daughter of a large family and survived by two sisters and two brothers spread across Canada.
Mom was active with various Church and Youth Groups, including the Woman’s Institute. Throughout her life she held a variety of nursing jobs in the Vancouver area, continuing at Resthaven Hospital in Sidney. Mom and Dad moved to Sidney in 1966, returning in 2001 after 15 years of retirement to Qualicum Beach. A talented seamstress, she found much happiness and fulfilment in sewing and knitting for her children and grandchildren.
