Large (Clifford), Dorothy

Dorothy Large (Clifford) was born at Bannerman, Manitoba on February 6, 1920, passed away peacefully March 8, 2008 at NRGH.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Harry Large, son Christopher (Amy), grandchildren Crystal and William.

They as a family went back to England when Dorothy was six, but only stayed about 9 months. They then came back to Canada and lived in Toronto for a short time before coming back to Manitoba and lived at Killarney and went to school there during the war years and until 1955 she lived in Winnipeg. In 1955 they moved to Nanaimo.

She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Nanaimo. December 22, 1962 she married Harry Large and moved to Qualicum Beach to become a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a strong member of St. Mark's Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach and she was a member of the ladies guild and a past president. She was also a member of the W.A for the Qualicum beach branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. She was also a founding member of the Qualicum Beach historical and Museum society. She drove for SOS as a volunteer driver for 25 years. During her working years, she worked for Eaton's stores in Winnipeg, and later the old Eaton's store in downtown Nanaimo, where she was in charge of the shoe department.

If anyone would like to give a donation in her name, they can make it to St. Mark's Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach, or the Salvation Army.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 138 W. Hoylake Rd, off of Memorial Rd in Qualicum Beach on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2 pm. Reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
