Allan grew up in North Vancouver, son to Archie and Gloria Kaario. As the oldest of four brothers in a commercial fishing family, he spent summers working on the boat at a young age. He eventually built and fished on his own boat, the Blue Rhapsody.
Allan married his high school sweetheart, Heather, in 1966. They moved to Parksville in 1971, where they raised their children Angela and Travis. With two young children at home, Allan changed careers to be closer to family. He started a landscaping and sprinkler installation business, and later worked for the City of Parksville, before retiring in 2006.
Allan kept busy with the Kinsmen Club, and spent countless hours volunteering with the Sandcastle Competition in the 80's and 90's. He loved getting his hands dirty in the garden, and also found joy in woodworking, designing and building furniture and other items.
Allan was predeceased by his beloved Heather and youngest brother Mel (Yunsook) earlier this year.
He will be deeply missed by Angela (Jody) and Travis (Kelly), his grandchildren Tayler, Judah, Bailey, and Mattiah, and his brothers Archie (Barbara) and Lars (Anne).
During his last months, Allan remained positive and grateful. Many times he said, "I've had a great life."
A celebration of Allan's life will be held at the Bayside Resort, Tidal room, on April 27th at 2:00.
