Smith, Edwin (Ted) Francis
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our much beloved and devoted husband and father Ted Smith of wife Patricia (nee Hunt) and daughters Susan and Wendy (Bruce) on December 11, 2008.
Ted was born in Quebec City June 14, 1922; the fifth of seven children of Edwin and Mary Smith. The family relocated to Victoria in 1939. Shortly after, Ted served in the RCAF as a pilot and flight instructor during the Second World War.
Wed to Patricia in 1955, they eventually settled in Victoria where they raised their two girls while Ted had a distinguished career as a realtor and insurance agent.
Long weekends and summers were spent at the cottage in Qualicum Beach, where they later retired to in 1985. In between tee times, bridge hands and G & T’s, they loved nothing more than relaxing together and enjoying their ever changing ocean view.
Ted is survived by brothers Vincent, Jack (Donna), Gilbert (Margaret), sister Hilda (John) Archibald, brother-in-law Jack Baldwin, many nieces and nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at
1 p.m. at the Catholic Church of the Ascension,
887 Wembley Rd., French Creek, Parksville.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
