Born on December 13, 1947 in Edson, Alberta, Beth passed on November 30, 2010. After an eight month, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer she passed away at the Eagle Park Health Care facility in Qualicum Beach, BC.
Predeceased by her father Maxwell Miller, Nov 1967, her mother Bessie Miller (nee: Powers) July 1961, she is survived by her husband Charles of 42 years, (married July 6, 1968) sons, Emmett and Alex of Edmonton, AB, sister Lucy Robinson of Niton, AB, sister-in-law Muriel Schmidt of Ardrossan, AB, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends, and her Siamese cat Ali.
Beth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Alberta (with distinction) and taught school in Alberta from 1968 until retiring in 2004. At retirement from teaching, Beth and Charles moved from their farm in McLeod Valley, AB to a home on French Creek, in Parksville, BC. Beth had a love for music, camping, reading, and gardening. She spent countless hours as a volunteer in numerous community organizations, both in Alberta and later in Parksville and Qualicum Beach, BC.
The family would like to thank VIHA’s Doctors, Nurses and home care staff for making Beth’s final days as comfortable as possible. A special thank you goes to the staff at Eagle Park Health Care facility for their kindness and loving care.
Beth was cremated, and will be interred at McLeod Valley, AB at a later date.
