RAMSAY, Ellen “May”

74, a resident of Parksville, BC, entered into Eternal Rest, Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in Victoria, BC.

May was born May 29, 1932, in Nelson, BC and was raised in Vancouver, BC. In her teens she became a member of Jobs Daughters, eventually being crowned Queen. She married Bill Ramsay October 7, 1950 and they moved to Puntzi Mountain in 1955 and then to Summerland where they owned and operated the Summerland Bowling Alley for several years. May was an active volunteer with the R.E.C.O.P.E. program and a Figure Skating Judge for the Summerland Figure Skating Club. As a member of the Summerland Art Club, she explored and expanded her artistic talents. She was a multi-talented artist who enjoyed a wide variety of artistic disciplines such as pottery, ceramics, painting and stained glass to name a few.

May was predeceased by her infant brother Norman and her parents Norman and Ellen Wallace.

She is survived by her loving family, husband Bill of 55 years; her children of whom she was most proud: Sharon (Dale) Farnsworth, Umatilla, OR, Sandra (David) Khalembach, Summerland, BC, Bill (Chris) Ramsay, Courtenay, BC, Brenda Frizzell, Parksville, BC, Leigh-Ann (Brian) Gluschenko, Vernon, BC; her sister Margaret Letcher, Surrey, BC; numerous nieces and nephews; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

At May’s request, there will be no Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
