Eva Gertrude Meston

February 25, 2004

MESTON, Eva Gertrude (Born Eva Gertrude Ross June 23, 1924 in King Ross Big Intervale, Inverness County, Nova Scotia)

Eva completed her final journey in life February 25, 2004, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 58 years, Jack; her three children; Carol Van Ek (Dirk), Douglas Meston (Bea), and Hugh Meston (Jean); and her special niece, Debbie Ross, who was like a daughter. She will be dearly missed by her seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Eva moved to Parksville with her husband in 1975, having lived most of her married life in Okotoks, Alberta. She will always be remembered for her strong faith and love of family, her undying sense of humour and wit, and her love of poetry. There was never a time when she did not have a story or a joke to share or a poem to recite. She could never pass up a good game of Scrabble or bridge and her kitchen table will ever remain a place of unbridled hospitality and fond memories for the constant flow of family and friends that visited from across Canada. Eva had a great abundance of love and a willingness to share it with all. She made an incredible difference in the lives of so many people and will remain in our memories forever. A memorial service will be held in her memory for friends and family on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, Parksville, B.C. A special thanks to Dr. Fridrikkson, Dr. Calvin and the nurses on Floor 5 at NRGH for your care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eva's memory to the Canadian Arthritis Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the C.N.I.B. FIRST MEMORIAL - NANAIMO
