January 25, 1921 - March 11, 2009

“A Mother holds her children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.”

It is with great sadness and love that the family of Evelyn (Eve) Horth announces her passing. Evelyn quietly passed away surrounded by her family at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by Herbert her husband of 65 years, her four children, Barry (Gail), Lynda (Gordon), Stephen, Sylvia (Brent). Her grandchildren Bradley (Daniela), Lisa (Doug), Carla, Stephanie, Faye, Chandra, and her great grandchildren Brooke, Jayna, Lauren and Autumn. Evelyn was born in London, England, the sixteenth of eighteen children. She was employed at Boots Pure Drug Company and also was a librarian. During WWII she worked in a munitions factory. In 1951 Evelyn and Hebert immigrated to Canada where they resided in Calgary AB, Peachland BC, and Parksville BC. Evelyn proudly became a Canadian Citizen in 2001.

Her family and friends will dearly miss her outspokenness, wonderful sense of humor, and her generous and caring nature.

Her family would like to thank the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital’s Intensive Care and Palliative Care Units for their incredible effort to ensure Eve’s comfort.

A Celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held by the family at a later time.
