Florence Bennett of Parksville, BC formerly of Yellowknife, NT passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 25/10 surrounded by her family. Florence was born in Hazel Hill, Nova Scotia on July 25th, 1930. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Myrtle and Bernard Long, her brother Bernie and sister Ellen. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving husband Claude, Parksville, BC, sons Bernie (Diana), Yellowknife, NT and Bill, Victoria, BC and daughters Audrey (John), Tuktoyaktuk, NT, Carolyn (A.K.A. Kelly), Yellowknife, NT, Kim (Rob), Parksville, BC. Flo was much loved by her eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Stephanie, Courtney, Robbie, Riley, Justin, Shane, Eric, Ryan, Caitlin and Jordan and her two great grandchildren, Sheldon and Quinton. Claude and Flo moved north with their five children from Nova Scotia to Frobisher Bay on October 31, 1971 and on to Yellowknife March 13th, 1973. They left Yellowknife In October 1996 when Flo retired from the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs after twenty- three years service. They relocated at this time to Parksville, BC and have spent many of the past years wintering in Yuma, Arizona.

At Flo’s request no service will be held and her ashes will laid to rest in Nova Scotia.

Special thanks to: Her beloved daughter in-law, Diana, whom Flo considered to be her 4th daughter who cared lovingly for Flo for the last two weeks of her life, Nick with Home Care, Nurse Catherine, Dr. Brad Bell and the staff of the Parksville Pharmasave all of whom helped to make Flo’s wish to die at home with her family around her possible.
