Garry Zayac died peacefully on Friday May 22, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with cancer. He was 65.
Garry was a long time resident and businessman in Burns Lake. He and his businesses were a supporter of minor sports and local youth. Many charities, individuals and sports teams benefited from his volunteer time and sponsorship, often provided anonymously.
Disco had Big Love - his wife, his boys, his extended family and friends, traveling, fishing and boats. His giggle was infectious and his sense of humor well exercised. Without regret, he lived his life with passion and conviction, and did not hesitate to act decisively. Garry was a hero to many and respected by all. He led a full life filled with integrity, excitement and happiness.
He will be missed.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 in Qualicum Beach, BC.
