passed away suddenly on November 16, 2003

at the age of 65

Gary was born and raised in International Falls, Minnesota, then moved to Port Alberni, BC in 1966. Gary was predeceased by his father, Anton (1996) and loyal companion, Bandit (2003). He is survived by his loving family, mother Mildred, mother-in-law Polly, sister Trudy (Frank) Dunn, brother Terry (Barb), (all of Minnesota); loving wife Sandy, son Jim (Colette), daughter Janice (Brian) Hill, grandchildren, James, Bryan, Courtney and Rhys. Also many more close relatives and friends.

Growing up in International Falls, Minnesota, Gary was an avid hockey and football player. After high school graduation he served for 3 years in the U.S. Navy. Gary spent his working years steam fitting at Alberni Pulp and Paper and Somass Division. He spent many of his working years involved in the IWA executive. He also spent a brief period farming in Alberta. He was a dedicated soccer, hockey and baseball coach. Gary retired in 1999 and was very active with the Parksville & Qualicum Fish and Game Association. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and antique gun collector.


All friends and family are welcomed to

a celebration of Gary’s life to be held

at the Arrowsmith Hall in Coombs, BC,

on Friday, November 21 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Hall is located between

Coombs General Store and the Frontiersman Pub.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or to the charity of your choice.
