George passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, at Stanford Place Care Campus, Parksville, BC.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Joan, son Kevin, grandson Bryce and sister Morag. He is survived by sons; Stuart (Jean), Ian, Chris (Jean’yves), daughter-in-law Sheree, granddaughters; Caitlyn (Caleb), Shandee, great-grandson Cy, sisters; Ella, Jean and Mamie.
George was born in Greenock, Scotland, the only son of George and Lizzie Simpson. He served in the R.A.S.C. in England and Europe from 1942 – 1945 and in the Military Police Occupation Force from 1945 – 1947. In 1955 the family immigrated to Canada. He joined XL Refinery, later Pacific Petroleum, finally Petro-Canada, at Taylor, BC where he retired as supervisor of E Plant. He and Joan moved to Parksville in 1980 where they enjoyed their house and many friends new and old. George was a member of the Burns Club.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Wagenaar, Dr. Fletcher, Anne Duggan and all the care givers who so kindly supported George with love and care.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 25, 2008
at 12:30 pm, at St. Anne’s Anglican Church,
407 Wembley Road, Parksville, BC.
