Georgina Catherine Gilmour
November 6, 1931 - March 20, 2017
Georgina or “Georgie” was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, in 1931. She later moved to Peterborough, Ontario, where she met her husband, Bob and her daughter, Rayme was born. In 1954 the boom of the logging industry brought a move to the West Coast of British Columbia, and she worked in the Sarita River and Franklin River camps for several years. While living in Port Alberni she gave birth to her daughter, Barbara, son, Rick and daughter, Chrissy. Finally, the lure of the ocean brought her to the beautiful town of Parksville in 1962 and it is where she resided until her passing. While in Parksville she worked as an accountant, spent time with the Pioneer Social Club and was an avid crafter of needlepoint, crochet and knitting. Her most notable time was with her beloved, Parksville Lioness Club, where she spent countless hours volunteering for over 20 years. During that time she won many awards and acknowledgments for her dedicated work.
She is pre-deceased by her mother, Milda and her father, Harvey.
She is survived by her brother, Richard, sister, Margaret, daughters, Rayme, Barbara, and Chrissy, son, Rick, eight grandchildren and five great-grand children.
