BOUEY, Grace Euphemia (Toombs)


passed away in Qualicum Beach, BC on April 25, 2002 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.


Wife of Howard for nearly 60 years, mother of Douglas (Elaine), Calgary; Jane Biggs (Wayne) Victoria and Nan Jacobson (Robert) Auburn, California and grandchildren Jane and Evan Bouey, Dan and Steve Biggs, Kallee and Stacey Jacobson. Grace was born February 7, 1921 and was raised in Saskatoon. She attended Nutana Collegiate there and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Home Economics in 1942. Shortly afterward, she married Howard and was with him in the Maritimes until he went overseas. Grace worked as a dietitian at the Winnipeg General Hospital (1943 - 1946). The family moved to Edmonton in 1949 where she raised her family. Howard retired from the practice of architecture in 1984 and the couple moved to Nanoose Bay, BC. They enjoyed 15 years of waterfront living in the Beachcomber area. Four years ago she moved into Eagle Park Extended Care Facility. Many thanks are extended to the wonderful, and sincere caregivers there who made difficult years as pleasant as possible. Grace was a loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She made many friends in her varied activities including golf, curling, watercolor painting and gardening. She was active in the church, Grace United (Edmonton) and St. Stephens United (Qualicum Beach). Her family and friends grieve for her and will miss her.


Her life will be celebrated at a remembrance service to be held at St. Stephens United Church, Qualicum Beach, BC on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at 2 pm.
