She was loved and appreciated by her family: husband Phil, who predeceased her in January 2016, daughters Claire [Dale] and Christine, grandchildren: Melissa, Jordan, Sabrina, Jared and Amanda and “almost” 14 great grandchildren. Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, she was the only child of Albert and Emily Rogers. Helen relished her work in the Timmins Public Library before her marriage, and books and reading continued to be a lifelong interest. She was an active member of several United Churches and loved to sing in church and community choirs. She enjoyed sewing and needlecrafts and volunteered in various organizations. She was the first coordinator at Nanaimo Family Life Association. Helen cherished her friendships and loved to socialize. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 1 pm. Brechin United Church, 1998 Estevan Road, Nanaimo. We wish to express our deep and sincere appreciation for the excellent care and compassion Helen received at the Qualicum Manor over the past 14 months. “Thank you” just isn’t enough – you are extraordinary! We really felt you loved our Mom just the way she was!
