Herbert "Barry" Harvey

June 20, 2003

HARVEY, Herbert “Barry”

passed away on June 20, 2003 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 62 years old.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife Pat of 41 years; daughters Carole (Russ) Richter, Romy (Jay) Weatherston and three lovely grandchildren Danielle, Kyle and Colton, whom he adored. Brother Brian (Joan) and a niece and nephews.

Throughout Barry’s years, he was very active in sports. He played baseball for many years, starting out as a young boy, hitting the very first home run out of the National Park in Victoria. He continued playing ball for the Victoria Centennials, who came out of the local little league and minor baseball to the Athletic Park Men’s League and dominated Canadian amateur baseball. The team has been honoured in the Canadian Hall of Fame and represented Canada at the world championships in Cartagena, Columbia in 1970.

He was also an avid curler, but never made his dream to go to the Brier. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his later years. He grew up in Victoria and has lived in Parksville for the past 13 years where he continued his plumbing career.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and will be in our hearts forever.

At Barry’s request, there is to be no funeral or memorial. His wish was to be remembered as a strong, kindhearted person.
