Herbert F. (Bert) Murray

December 11, 2004

Murray, Herbert F. (Bert) born March 2, 1929 in Powell River, B.C., passed away in Qualicum, B.C., on December 11, 2004 after a long battle with congestive heart disease. He was pre-deceased by his brother Ken in 2003. Bert will be lovingly missed by his daughter Terry and husband Ron Hunter of Parksville; son Brian and wife Jo-Ann Pawliw of Calgary, Alberta; son Ross and partner Mike Wiskar of Vancouver; grandsons Christopher and William of Calgary; special friend, Jeanne Garrison of Qualicum, brother Dennis and wife June of Vancouver; sister-in-law Doris of Abbotsford, B.C. and former wife, Patricia White of Logan Lake. Bert worked for over 40 years at Canadian Pacific Railway in Vancouver ending his career in 1986 in the Damage Prevention Services department. In recent years, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and spent many happy hours fishing at French Creek. Bert was a kidney patient at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver since 1975, including 11 years on dialysis and 17 years as a successful transplant recipient. It is the family's hope that his legacy can be an inspiration to other patients stricken with kidney disease. Many thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at St. Paul's for their excellent care over the past 29 years. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Eagle Park Lodge for their incredible compassion and expertise shown our father in his final days. Condolences can be sent to the family at Parksville Funeral Chapel via email at 1045@alderwoods.com.
