CYNCORA, Hilda Jane (Jean)

December 8, 1926 - January 3, 2006

Jean passed away suddenly at her home in Hilliers at the age of 79 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Charmaine (John) Raga, son Greg Cyncora and step-son Edward Cyncora. Also left behind is sister Edith Pratt, Parksville, brothers Edward (Verna) Burgoyne of Nelson and Harry (Lonita) Burgoyne of Port Coquitlam, as well as many nieces and nephews.

All who knew Jean will remember the years she spent cooking in Parksville at the Swing Inn Café and the Tartan Inn. Her culinary expertise earned her a reputation second to none. Jean took a new direction prior to her retirement and for 10 years worked on the West Coast as camp cook for J.S., Murray, Young Bay, Greenwood and West Coast Logging operations.

Life’s pleasures were always simple for Jean. Friends of Jean will remember her love of the outdoors and would often find her working in the garden or doing yard work on her property. Jean was never afraid of a hard days work and always said that was what kept her going. In her spare time she loved to knit and bake.

Jean was a loving mother and sister and an intensely devoted Nan. One of the greatest joys in her life was being grandmother to Darren and Graham who both filled her heart with pride. She loved to watch Graham play hockey.

This kind, gracious, and caring woman will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She always provided a warm, loving, and supportive home environment.

No service by request.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory can be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
