Howard Leigh McCLELLAND

May 17, 2009

July 6, 1949 ~ May 17, 2009

Howard passed away peacefully at home in Parksville, B.C., after a courageous battle against cancer. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, loving family, and beloved pets. He is survived by Judy, his wife and friend of 29 years; his brothers Allan (Betty) and Doug (Lee); Mother-in-law Helen Shilling; brother-in-law Jim (Linda); nieces Lara, Marla, Wendy and Janine; nephews Ross, Ryan, Ben and Jaime.

Howard was predeceased by his parents Sam and Elva McClelland and his father-in-law Jim Shilling.

Howard was born in Pincher Creek and raised on the family ranch near Beaver Mines. He graduated from NAIT, then began an accomplished and respected 35 year career with EPCOR in Edmonton as a Power Electrician. In 2006 Howard fulfilled his Retirement dream to live near the ocean. He explored and fished the Georgia Strait in his boat, ‘The Aqua Trance’, his pride and joy. Howard left us far too early, but we take comfort in remembering his many accomplishments. He has been a pilot, an inventor, a mechanic, and all around handyman. He embraced life with a feel for adventure, a love of travelling, playing cards, motorcycles, collector cars, and nature. Howard’s sense of humour and easy going nature will be fondly remembered.

Special thanks go out to Dr. Sulz, Parksville Medical Clinic, the Parksville Home Care and Palliative nurses, and to all our friends and neighbours who have supported us during this difficult year.
