On May 20, 2007, Ella passed away peacefully, with her family at her side. Ella was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne in England. She was an army veteran , having served her country overseas in WWll before coming to Canada.
Ella was predeceased by her husband Pete Sculthorpe of Parksville, her brothers Thomas and Alfred in the UK, and Bill in Vancouver. She is fondly remembered by her nephew Bill Vinton (Sharon), residing in Parksville, three other nephews and a niece, as well as numerous grand- and great-grandnephews and nieces residing in the UK, and many friends. Ella had the pioneering spirit of a true Canadian, and the social graces and elegance of an English lady. She was an avid HAM radio operator.
Thank you to the compassionate staff at Trillium Lodge who were so supportive to us in the final days of Ella's life.
Ella's funeral was held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church Parksville at 10:00 am Friday, May 25, 2007.
