April 8, 1927- January 10, 2009

Mike passed away peacefully with family around him at home in Qualicum Beach after a long struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Mike was predeceased by his son Timothy Bensusan in 2005.

Survived by his loving wife Betty Ann Acres, son Patrick (Elena) of St Albert, AB, stepson Henry Acres (Christina) of Qualicum Beach, grandchildren Katherine and Raechel Bensusan of St Albert, AB, and sister, Susan Bellows (Peter) of Sao Paulo, Brazil and several nieces and nephews.

Mike was born in Santos, Brazil and spent his youth in Brazil and Argentina. After moving his young family to England in 1962, they emigrated to Canada in 1965. Mike’s career in Canada was in sales with Electrohome Limited in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON. Upon retirement, he, Betty Ann, and Henry moved to Qualicum Beach, B.C. where Mike enjoyed golfing, visits of friends from afar, and the many new friendships formed, especially with Probus Club of Qualicum Beach members. Mike’s wicked and witty sense of humour was enjoyed by all, even when you were the butt of his joke.

Betty Ann would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers who helped her to make Mike’s last years more pleasant and full of mirth.

A celebration of life service will be held later in the year, in May in Qualicum Beach. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to the ALS Society of BC or your favorite charity would be appreciated.
