SCOTT, James. Jim passed from this life on June 4, 2002 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Nanaimo, BC at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Isobel of Parksville; daughter Carol, son-in-law Lionel Coleman; granddaughters Carey and Lindsey Abma of Burlington, ON and step granddaughter Julie Coleman of Halifax, NS. Jim leaves behind his sister Chris; niece Kim and family of Colchester, England; remaining members of the “Jackson” clan and many wonderful friends. Jim was predeceased by son Clinton, 1976 and step granddaughter Amy Coleman, 1995. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Jim was a WWII vet, serving in the R.A.S.C. (Airborne Div.) and a life member of the Shamrock & Thistle Lodge #275. Jim immigrated to Hamilton, ON in 1956 in hopes of providing a better future for his young family. As a member of the Hamilton Musicians Union and Local 1916 Millwrights for 42 years, Jim was able to do what he loved best, play the drums and “build steel mills.” During his years in Hamilton he was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 58 and 163. Eventually retiring to Parksville, BC and spending several memorable winters in Palm Springs, CA. Jim was very thankful for his 15 great years of retirement. Sincere thanks to the caring staff at Nanaimo Hospital, especially Connie whose compassion will long be remembered. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to the Cancer Society or Lung Association would be graciously appreciated.


Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service to be held Saturday, June 8, 1:00 pm at the Arbutus Grove Church, 170 Hirst St., Parksville, BC


Jim will be sadly missed yet fondly remembered as the life of the party by all who knew him and in his own words he was “A man who knew where his heart was.”
