Jim was born August 13, 1940 in St. Boniface, Manitoba and passed away August 1, 2006 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Palliative Care Unit with family by his side.

He fought a courageous battle with lung cancer. Lovingly remembered by his wife, Irene, for 40 years. Son, Lorne (Shelly), Kamloops; daughter Trina Gollino, Qualicum Beach, BC; four grandchildren Anthony, Ricki, Nathan and Claire; brother Bruce of Edmonton; twin brother Bob (Bernice), Winnipeg; brother-in-law Ken Martin (Val), Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; also many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Jim was a mechanic by trade who started Ideal Service and Watt Street Esso in Winnipeg. He moved to Victoria in 1967 and worked at the Shellborne Diagnostic Center, The Victoria and Nanaimo Motor Vehicle Inspection Station, BC Ferry – Powell River to Little River, Parksville and Kamloops Weigh Scales, where he retired in 1995 to Paul Lake. He loved to fish with neighbor Helen Surette. In 1999 he moved to Qualicum Beach, BC, where he enjoyed his last 7 years.

Respecting Jim’s wishes as requested, there will be no service, tea or celebration.

Flowers gratefully declined, but if one so wishes, a donation to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
