SMITH, Janet (Jan)
It is with regret that we announce the passing of Jan. Born December 29, 1935 and left us suddenly after a brief illness on July 22, 2003.
She leaves to remember, her daughter Christine (Mark) Timpson of Australia, sons Robert (Louise) Burnett and Bruce (Liz) Burnett of Powell River and dearly loved grandchildren Jordan, Jamie, Joshua and Jonah, brothers and sisters in Great Britain, Canada, the USA and many friends.
Jan will be fondly remembered by both family and friends for her style and presence. Jan had a tremendous sense of self, strong minded combined with a generous heart. The most important things in her life were her family and friends and a passion for her flower gardens; she grew the most amazing Lilies, Roses and Dahlias. Jan possessed a will of iron and a tremendous sense of humor, creating both fun and respect from all who knew her.
Jan was the Dining Room Manager at the Qualicum College Inn for many years and the co-owner of Wobbly Pops Restaurant in Qualicum Beach. She provided dining pleasure to thousands of patrons over the years. Many of her patrons and co-workers became her devoted friends. She was affectionately called “Mum” by her staff.
A service will be held for Jan at The Christian Fellowship Centre, 825 Village Way, Qualicum Beach on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 1:00 pm. Inquiries — 752-3155.
