Joanne died peacefully after an extended 11 week stay in Nanaimo Hospital and a valiant 10-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Her illness never hampered her cheery outlook and sly sense of humour. Friends often marvelled at her attitude and exclaimed: “What a wonderful gal and nice person.”
Born in Ontario, Joanne came west early in adult life and lived in all four western provinces before settling in Calgary area for more than two decades. She was an active skier and golfer and was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the
Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club.
She is survived by her husband Laurie and theRichardson “clan” from her first marriage: daughter M.J., son Rob, grand daughters Mandy and Willow and great grandson Dorrian, brothers Bud and Jim Bell, along with her beloved Bichon “Tex”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at
St. Stephen’s United Church in Qualicum Beach on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parkinson Society of B.C. would be appreciated.
