It is with grieving hearts that the family of John de Medeiros Bothelo annouce that on Sunday the 6th of December at the age of 87 he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
John was born on April 20, 1922 on the island of Sao Miguel, Acores. At the age of 25, on June 18th, 1947 he wed Maria Joaquina, his loving wife of 62 years. He immigrated to Canada on April 20, 1957, moving to Qualicum Beach in 1959 where John and Maria raised their seven children. John was well known in the community for his love of gardening and it was his love of life that kept him young at heart.
John will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Maria, their six children (Tina, Dolores, Daniel, Mary, Toni and Jack), their spouses, seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by their son, John Luis in 2007.
A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11a.m. at the Church of the Ascension in French Creek. Yates Funeral Home, Parksville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
