Passed away in Comox, British Columbia on December 24th, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Herb, his granddaughter Laurel Dart and his nephew Danny May. John is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Elizabeth Talbot Dart (nee May), his sons Christopher (Frances) Dart of Parksville, B.C. and Ian (Carol-Ann) Dart of Fanny Bay, B.C., his grandchildren; Deana Baumel (Dale), Shawna Hamilton (Steven) and Crystal Randen (Ivar), his great grandchildren; Taylor Mueller, Connor Mueller, Cole Jarvie, Sydney and Dawson Baumel, Joshua and Meghan Hamilton and Ivar and Seanna Randen, sister-in-law Elsa Dart of London, England, nieces and nephews; Johny and Malcolm Dart of London, England, Wayne May and Gina May. John served in the Navy as a gunner during World War II and was a member of the Legion. He later worked as a ships mate at the Canadian Naval Base at Nanoose, B.C. In his leisure time, John was an artist and loved gardening, fishing and music. John was a kind, loving husband, father and friend who greatly affected the lives of everyone that he knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox for the care and kindness John received during his illness.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation & Reception Centre
