BOORMAN, JOHN (JACK)

June 30, 1924 ~ December 17, 2009

Jack was born to Alice and Ebenezer Boorman and brother to Trudy, William (Bill), Laurie all predeceased. He was predeceased by Gladys Boorman, his wife of 50 years.

Jack was born in Victoria BC but grew up in the Royal Oak area. After graduating from Mt. View High School he served as a wireless operator in the Merchant Marines. He then worked as a postal carrier for many years delivering mail throughout Greater Victoria. If ever needing to know a street or address in Victoria you just had to ask him and he knew.

Jack was an active member of Centennial United Church for many years until relocating to Qualicum Beach in 1998. Jack enjoyed volunteering for over 10 years in the Thrifty Foods Sendial program in both Victoria and Parksville. He was an avid bird watcher and model train enthusiast. Jack loved to go for walks and could often be seen walking his little white dog, Ayla around the Garden/Primrose Street area in Qualicum Beach.

Jack will be fondly remembered by his daughter Debbie Longland (Terry), and son Lawrence Boorman. His grandchildren, Jesse Boorman (Tejan), Amber Boorman (Josh), Katie Longland, Valerie Gorrie (Andrew). Great-grandson Willow Boorman, Jacks namesake, Jack Gorrie who arrived as the New Years baby for Victoria on January 1, 2010 as well as cousin Marjorie (Ross) Sturgeon and many other friends and relatives. Thank you to all his caregivers, and to Barb & Tracy from the Arrowsmith Day program who he looked forward to seeing every week. Jack was a quiet, gentle man who will be greatly missed.

The service will be at First Memorial in Nanaimo BC on Saturday, January 23 at 1:00pm.
