John James Bunning
February 10th, 1935 - July 19th, 2017
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of John James Bunning - JB to many friends and family.
John was a true legend in his time. He enjoyed a variety of interests: cruising with his mates while in his teens on motorcycles to the Ace Café in London, fishing on the Thames, chugging up the canals in England on his narrow boat, Hustler, to name a few.
After moving to Canada with his family he spent his free time acting on the stage in Qualicum Beach. He enjoyed the country life with his wife Arlene in Whiskey Creek. This last year found him creating a fine water garden in their new home at French Creek.
John’s work life was also interesting and varied. For many years he was managing director at AC Barratt in Leamington Spa, England. His Canadian careers included ownership and management of Parry’s RV Park for ten years. The last ten years of his working life he was part owner of the VIP Motel in Parksville.
John leaves behind his beloved and blended families on Vancouver Island and in the United Kingdom. He has left us with countless quotes and quirky sayings. You will be greatly missed old chap. May you always captain that great pirate ship in the sky.
There will be a private celebration of John’s life. In lieu of flowers donations in
John’s memory can be made
to the SPCA in Parksville.
